About 2018 Stage for the Up-and-Coming Talent Series

The project provides stage performance opportunities for promising artists of traditional operas at home. At this joint performance series, up-and-coming talents of Beijing opera, Taiwanese opera, Hakka opera, Luantan opera, and Bangzi opera are invited to go on stage and share finely hone performing skills with their peers and the audience. It is hoped that budding performers will be motivated to unleash more of their potential on stage and grow into stars of tomorrow.

 

The Performing Group│Wen He Legacy Opera Company

Founded by LIU Zheng-jie, who hails from a traditional opera background, the Wen He Legacy Opera Company is a talented group of young Hakka performers dedicated to passing on traditional Hakka opera while infusing it with new ideas. Unique to the Hakka people, Hakka opera is a type of traditional opera that takes its cues from Hakka living and culture. Featuring Hakka tea-picking opera and folk songs, it also weaves in elements of Beiguan opera, Waijiang opera, Kunqu opera, and Taiwanese opera, becoming a major part of Hakka theatrical culture. Young artists take parts in the performance to groom them for the stage, while actors also interact with the audience to let people better understand Hakka opera.

The Legend of Sun Wu Zi

Synopsis

Because of the uprisings of war everywhere, people were suffering in The Warring States period. SUN Wu-zi made a book out of words to save the people, and it was too powerful that Jade Emperor gave orders requesting for his death. Sun passed the book to his student Wang, Chan and told him after 500 years is your time to help me.

After 500 years, during the war between two kingdoms, Yen and Chi. YEN DAN, the Princess of Yen, still joined the fight even though she was pregnant. Meanwhile Queen of Chi CHUNG WU YEN, took it as a hint so she came up with a plan to win the war. In the battlefield, CHUNG WU YEN saw that YEN DAN was about to give birth, so she called a time out to help her. And this baby is believed to be reincarnate of SUN WU ZI.

Young generation of Hakka opera actress. Won The best Actress awards of Hakka Opera in 2001. Challenge herself for many difficult characters and earn recognition for her outstanding performance. Joined Wen He Legacy Opera Company in 2015, still make her contribution to Hakka opera.

With the help of Hakka TV program, Wen He in 2015. As the youngest actress, her diligent and eager to practice, makes her a better actress than she was. And even joined the tour with company and loved by the audience.
